Follow in the footsteps of Australia's pioneers and discover the stark contrasts of this rugged and beautiful country.

The outback experience is like no other, with lush Coolabah lined rivers, sparkling fishing holes, dinosaur fossils and red desert sand. Marvel at the rugged terrain and the determination of the characters of the outback, and enjoy the hospitality of the friendly locals.

Visit the delightful rural towns of Dalby, Warwick and Goondiwindi on the edge of the Darling Downs, cattle and sheep rearing towns of Roma and Charleville and then Birdsville on the edge of the Simpson desert in the far west of the state.

The Capricorn Highway runs from Rockhampton, the Beef Capital of Australia, through Emerald – the gateway to the Sapphire gem fields, Longreach – the home of the Stockman's Hall of Fame and on to Winton, before terminating near Boulia, famous for the mysterious Min Min light.

Driving north from Winton – the birthplace of 'Waltzing Matilda', you will visit the mining and cattle town of Cloncurry, and finally the town of Normanton in the far north Gulf Savannah.

Join in with exciting festivals and events – animal and vehicle musters, 4WD events, thrilling rodeos, wacky races, and country music. Each region holds their own unique events, and locals are more than happy to make visitors feel involved.
